Meetings
The Club meets on Tuesday evenings at East Ord Village Hall between September and April. Meetings start at 7.30pm, but we are typically on site from 7.00pm, and usually finish no later than 9.30pm. We generally stop for a break partway through the evening (so remember to bring 50p if you’d like a drink and a biscuit).
We also typically meet up on the second weekend of each month during the day for a location shoot. Destinations range from near to far and details of the shoots are on the programme. Between April and September, outside of the formal season, we also add a monthly evening location shoot during the week. Again, details are posted on the programme in advance.
Zoom
We will use Zoom to stream a number of meetings over the course of the season. This works best for nights when we have a speaker (with some speakers scheduled to present over Zoom). Zoom is less suitable for practical nights and so may not be available for meetings where there will be a high degree of member interaction. Instructions on how to access Zoom are on the Club pages of the website.
Subscriptions
Prospective members are welcome to attend for two to three weeks before we ask for any subscriptions. The current rates are £45 for the season. Prospective members looking to join after the Christmas break should speak to our Treasurer to confirm the applicable rates. Members are encouraged to pay via bank transfer where possible and the account details are given on the Club pages of the website.
Website
The website plays an important role in the life of the club and a fuller guide is attached at the bottom of this page. Members are encouraged to post a little about themselves on the ‘My Account’ page. There is space on this page for a profile picture - a clear self-portrait helps us all recognise one another (and is an interesting photographic exercise).
The My Account page also has space for a personal gallery where you can share up to twenty of your own images. Refreshing this from time to time is good practice. We also set up specific Club Galleries where members can share images from specific shoots or on particular themes.
The 'Showcase' gallery plays a different role and is intended as an area where members can ask for feedback or offer guidance. It helps enormously if members identify the areas where feedback is requested. While other galleries on the website are visible to the public, Showcase images and comments are only visible to members.
Another feature of the website only accessible to members are the Bulletins. Any member can post a bulletin and the website will alert the membership by email that it has been posted. You can use this, for example, to share information, ask questions or sell equipment.
Finally, the website is used to manage a number of the club’s competitions. Instructions for operating the competitions pages are in the guide. Specific instructions for any competition will be displayed on the competitions page. It is also worth keeping an eye on the bulletins for reminders of deadlines and requirements.
The website is maintained by Eddie Middleton. If you have any difficulties you can contact him via the "Meet the Members" section of the Club pages.
